Traditional vs. Trenchless pipe repair: Which is right for you?
The most common cause of sewer line troubles is roots that have invaded your pipes. The roots find moisture wherever they can get it, even in the smallest of breaches. Once they’re in, they grow and expand, eventually clogging up your line.
No matter the cause of your sewer line problem, letting it persist is not only an annoyance, but can pose a health hazard as well. That’s why Feehan offers a couple different repair options for you to choose from: Traditional or trenchless.
The technicians at Feehan give an in-depth look at both repairs, leaving it up to the homeowner to choose which option is best for them. Here is a step-by-step of each one that was actually performed in Prospect Park.
So, now, if you ever have problems with your sewer line you’ll have a good idea of what Feehan can do for you.
Traditional:
- Demolish the concrete floor to access the existing cast iron main drain that is cracked
- Cut out a section of existing drain and replace it with PVC piping
- Supply and install new clean out tee in stack to second floor
- Supply and install two transition couplings from PVC to cast
- Run electric sewer machine through main to clear blockage under basement bathroom
- While the main is open, inspect the sewer main the best we can to make sure there are no additional problems
- Backfill floor and supply and install new concrete where necessary
- Test out and clean up
Trenchless:
- Dig down at the curb to the existing curb trap and remove
- Supply and install trenchless pipe bursting technology from curb trap to back of house
- Supply and install new curb trap and vent pipe
- Test out and clean up
The great thing about trenchless pipe repair is that it doesn’t do damage to your landscape and it barely disrupts your everyday routine. It prevents root intrusion from occurring again and is warranted for as long as you own your home.
